What will last…?

19 days has passed by since the new year began and I realized that it’s been a looooong time since I last wrote anything in this blog. I’ve been told that blogging is getting out of style and that Facebook, Tag, are the in thing. So that might account for my lack of enthusiasm to continue with blogging.

Be that as it may….since I’ve a blog started for me, I thought I’d try my hand at using it.

In the past 3 weeks since the beginning of the year I’ve attended 2 funerals, made quite a few hospital visitations and I thought this is really a good awakening to start the year with – an awakening to our human mortality. It’s an apt reminder that nothing on this earth really lasts forever. As the Bible puts it in Isaiah 40,

6 “….. All men are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.

7 The grass withers and the flowers fall,
because the breath of the LORD blows on them.
Surely the people are grass.

8 The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God stands forever.”

So, if the only thing that will last is the word of God, then I’d better pay attention to what it has to say. Therefore, for this year at least, I shall use this blog to communicate with you what I learn as I pay more attention to what the word of our God says.
